Pirongia Golf Club

December 22, 2014

Pirongia is an easy-walking course at the foot of Mt Pirongia. On one boundary is the historic Waipa River and on the other, State Highway 39 which connects Ngaruawahia and Otorohanga.

The course is lined with a mixture of native and exotic trees. Many tui and a few kereru are resident for much of the year, and kaka appear for several weeks late in the season.

We warmly welcome new members and also casual green fee players – the green fee is $25 per round or $15 for nine holes. Green fees may be paid by cash or ETPOS. For a map of how to find the course and driving directions if needed, please click here

***MONDAY SPECIAL……$10 greenfee (including public holidays)***

On Mondays during the months of daylight saving, a popular twilight season takes place. Seven dollars will buy you nine holes of golf and a chance to win a prize. The tees are open from 4pm to 6pm.

Every Boxing Day the Alexandra Racing Club (the oldest racing club in NZ – founded in 1866) holds its annual equalizator meeting when the front nine holes are transformed into a race track for the day. A combination of galloping and trotting races make up the ten race programme which starts at 11.30am. Around 10,000 people flock to the course, all vying for the best position. For many people, a visit to the Pirongia Boxing Day Races has become a part of their Christmas tradition.
